Chapter 14

Marriage.

I never thought in my life that I would ask someone for that. Until her.

I always knew that she had some effect on me but now after a week, the condition of my heart was still the same. It still beats crazily whenever I see her picture.

I zoomed her picture; which I took when she was talking on her phone to someone. I tried to get the slight glimpse of her smile. Her small hands were plucking out the rose petals as she makes a small pout.

It's cute.

A subtle smile appears on my face as I looked at the picture, "Nice shot" a low and soft voice made me flinch, I turned to see, it's maa and my face relaxes a bit. Hopefully it's not Ahaan or else he won't let me live in peace.

Her faces holds a smile as she continues her stare at the picture. Tilting my head backwards, I faced maa, she smiles softly and asks "So, did you talk to her?" her tone was filled with little excitement as she turned fully towards me.

Yeah, I did.

She needs time to think, that's what she said before exiting the cafe in hurry. As she was so taken by my unexpected proposal, I gave her time to think, a whole-fucking-week.

Maa's soft voice breaks the chain of my thoughts, "if not then I'm ready to talk" she exclaimed, holding an assured smile and stands up.

"No, I'll talk to her. No need to pressurise her" I said, remembering her reaction from the last time. The way her hazel brown orbs were jammed on me at that time, as If she saw some ghost.

She looked cute though.

A teasing smile plastered on her faceΒ  "As you say, ab ladki khud select ki hae to bat bhi tum hi karo" she replied and walks towards the kitchen.

Slurping the rest of the coffee, I made my way towards the bedroom while turning the phone on, I observed the battery; almost dead.

Dashing towards my room, I clicked open the door and closed it with a low sound. Revolving around the other side of the bed, I plugged the charger in phone and placed it on the table.

heading toward the closet, I picked up a simple sweatpants and a t-shirt which hugs my muscles like a second skin. Turning on the faucet, I let it take its time to settle down to the right temperature.

Within minutes after shedding the cloths away, I walked into the shower. My eyes gets closed on their own as the I feel the right temperature against my body, as it relaxes my tensed and stiff muscles.

I have been in stress for some days now and the routines follows by, how I thinks about Siya in morning as it's the first thing I do when I wake up.

Then lots of Stuff of company, new meetings, projects, contracts and the list goes on. At last, it's Siya again who captured my mind and helps me to take some good sleep.

Grabbing the body wash, I squeezed some on the loofah and gently rubs it across my chest, followed by shoulders, back and forearms. Rinsing the soap away, I rapped myself in a robe and stepped out of the shower.

After changing into some decent clothes, I slumped in my bed and took my phone from the charging. My brows were pinched in frawn as I eyed at the notification bar not believing what I was seeing and then it finally hits me.

She called me, 20 minutes ago.

Fuck.

Sitting up straight, I immediately called back hoping she would pick up. It stared to ring once and unknowingly my heartbeats seem to beats faster than these rings as it increases one by one. Twice, thrice -then her honey like voice echoes, "hello" she picked up at the fourth ring.

My eyes shut closed and my palm tightened up into a fist. It's been a whole week, since I heard to her soothing voice.

A whole damn week since our last interaction, at the cafe. I still remember; how closely I held her at that time in the elevator, how she's scrunching her nose because her drink tastes awful, how she plays with flowers while talking on the phone, how her face turned a little pale as soon I proposed her.

Not to forget, how her hazel brown eyes were shining as she was adoring those flowers; while I was adoring her.

The smile which was there on her beautiful face almost made my heart skip some not-so-important beats, I tried to control it but my heart did skip few heartbeats on its own.

The slightest thought of her again increased the pace of my heartbeats, making my breaths uncomfortably unstable.

Relax.

Taking a long deep breath of encouragement, I answered "Hey, you called." stupid, it was a stupid reply.

Silence takes place form her side, as she didn't respond but then it fades away with her voice "Umm, I was meaning to call you from some days but I- I" she stammered and pause for few seconds.

The racket feelings, which was there some moments ago fades as she completes her sentence "I didn't get chance." she lied. I know, she was confused and nervous as hell back then and now also. I can sense it by her how her voice comes out.

"It's okay" I replied, rising from the bed, I sauntered around my room. when I didn't get any reply from her side, I initiate the conversation "So, have you thought about it?" I queried, keeping my voice low.

Her voice came out as a whisper "Yeah, I did but" she hesitates, her voice cracked up a little bit "Why me?" She added with some curiousness in her tone.

My steps halted at her sudden question. When I stayed silent for some time, she asked again with aΒ  'hmm?' which sounds - cute.

The answer was on the tip of my tongue, because it's only you. But I choose to go with her comfort, she didn't know it yet.

Rubbing my fingers on my chin, I remarked "Seems like you forgot the fact that we are dating." A heavy sigh releases from the other side and I imagined her rolling her eyes at my statement.

She tried to explain, "Listen, we're not dating." her voice was low with a hint of sternness in it. I know we are not dating but we can change it, right? Something more precious than dating - marriage.

Sounds perfect.

"I called you to ask something important." She uttered in low voice and my attention drifts to the word important.

Closing my eyes for some seconds, I replied "Okay, ask." and sits on the edge of the bed carefully to not make any unnecessary sounds.

She repeats 'okay' and takes a long breath, "Why me? and yes, don't just say that it's because I'm your girlfriend. We both know the fact that it's fake, forget fake. We didn't even do anything which couples do, okay. So we are far from this dating thing." By each sentence her voice lowers and breathes started to sound heavy as if she was struggling to breathe properly.

Panic takes place over my already nervous heart and I ran an aggressive hand threw my damped hairs,Β  "Okay, relax first" I told her, as much as I need to relax, I need her to ease off first.

She hummed in response, "Now breathe, okay. Breathe for me." I encouraged her and she seemed to listen me, the sound of her heavy breathing now fades and relief forms inside my chest.

"Feeling better?" I asked, hoping for a positive response. Again she hummed, "Yeah." her voice sounds weaker than before.

After few minutes, she murmured "I-" her voice cuts off by a loud thud and then the call ends abruptly. I immediately called back but she didn't picked it up. My fingers tightened around the phone and a curse escaped from my mouth.

Fuck.

Without any second thought, I grabbed a pair of jeans and a leather jacket, then dressed hastily. Seizing the bike keys, I rushed toward the parking. Wearing the helmet around my head, I hopped on the bike. Clutching the speed handles tightly, I raced them up and veered them towards her office.

I drive recklessly on the road not caring how some people are yelling for making loud sounds, I might have died at 2 turns back then but I cared less.

After all the driving, It took me 20 minutes to reach there; usually it takes 30-40 minutes.

Tossing the helmet on the bike handles, I entered the building; a huge one. Rushing towards the reception, "Siya's floor no." I asked the receptionist, there was a slight sternness in my voice.

The receptionist's eyes snapped from my head to toe and then stops at my face, her eyes widened as she stares at me. She holds the telephone and dialled a number, her each step makes me more impatient and then I questioned her again. This time she answered and I marched towards the elevator.

23rd floor.

The elevator door opens and my steps takes its pace as I walked towards her cabin. Which was supposed to be on the right side.

A hand appears on the handle, as I was about to push the glass doors open, my head snapped at my left side and I find that blue eyed guy standing beside. I gave him a glare but he doesn't seem to pass it.

His grip on the handle tightened, preventing me from opening it. My brows arched up in confusion as I watched his hand.

What's his fucking problem now.

My eyes went close for a couple of seconds and I inhaled a breath, "listen," opening my eyes, I looked at him. A not-so-important question emerged as I looked at him, What was his name? And why he's stopping me from going inside?

"Step aside" I said, my voice darkened and I turned fully to face him. Instead of letting me go in, he also turned around, "you can't go in-inside." He stammered through his reply but still didn't let me in, making me more angry.

Adrenaline rush through my veins and I pushed the door open with one hand, while the other one stops him. He didn't tried to stop me but his eyes widened with some shock as I entered the cabin and locked it within a few seconds.

Asshole, I win.

Wearing a victory grin, I turned around and her intoxicated smell fills my nostrils, sweet vanilla. Roaming my eyes From left to right , I observed everything; desk, a beautiful swan painting, comfortable couch and, my heart skipped a beat as my eyes landed on - her.

Whatever magic she was doing seem to works on, cause she's moving in fucking slowmo. The grin on my face replaced by a smile as I watched her. Her small hands were rubbing a towel over her head , drying her wet hair.

and her body were rapped around a bath-bathrobe. She doesn't seem to notice me until she tosses the towel on the armchair and lifts up her head, her hazel brown orbs landed on me and then they were unable to move, neither mines were.

Seeing her in again after a whole week, my heart releases all my worries and a sighed escaped from my mouth.

I marched towards her, taking long enough steps. Her hazel doe eyes widened as she ranked a gaze on my steps, then her rosy lips parted to say somethingΒ  "You." her words died in her mouth as I covered the whole distance and did the only thing I could think of.

A hug.

I wrapped my arms around her and pulls her against me. Holding her tightly in my embrace, I closed my eyes. I never hugged her before; we did touched each other but a hug? No. It was different and afar from everything.

The feeling of her right against me soothes my aching heart and I tightened my hold a little. She didn't move neither she pushed me off but slowly the stiffness of her body loosens and her whole weight starts to hang on me.

Her sudden action shocks me a bit as she reached out her hands and wraps them around my torso; lightly.

suppressing a chuckle, I gazed down at her. Turning her head she press her cheek against my chest and closed her eyes. Her damped hair falls on her soft cheek, making her look cute with the help of her long beautiful lashes.

I bite back urge to move those dark brown strands away from her face to get more look of her face.

We stayed there for few minutes, then the grip of her hands loosens and she takes few-two-steps back from me. Her eyes flutter opens, gazing at me she turns them around and looks everywhere but me.

Holding the hem of the robe sleeves , she asks "You here?" her voice was low and gentle. I hummed, "You scared me" I expressed and turns my gaze from her, as she seems slight uncomfortable in the robe.

Her mouth forms an 'o' as she understands what I mean. Yeah, I was scared. Scared to death. When the call cuts abruptly, I can't think anything straight at that time. My whole attention was on her.

She runs a hand over her clothed arm and I immediately get to know that she must be feeling cold. By how her hairs were still wet and she was still wearing a bathrobe. Turning backward I grabbed the ac remote from the centre table and turns it on heat mode.

"So, what happened back then." I questioned, looking outside from the window.

I sensed her moving and picking up the towel from the armchair, "I- I fainted" adrenaline rushed through me as IΒ  snapped my head towards her.

"You what, how?" I approached her, "did you get hurt?," I inquired again, holding her face between my hands, I glanced at it.

Turning her face sidewise, I observed every feature making sure to leave no place. Once I'm done with her face, I asked again "Hurt anywhere, Siya?" gently stroking a thumb over her cheek, my eyes were filled with concern.

She shook her head in no and I nod at her response. Good. My hands were still cupping her face as my thumb wasΒ  stroking some gentle circles on her skin.

"I was saying that," she hesitates, her eyes turned into those hypnotising doe eyes, which no one can resist. Her milky white cheeks turns into bright pink hue, her bottom lip sink between her teeth before she muttered "That getting married wasn't a bad option."

My mind went blank and a chuckle escaped from my mouth, "is that a yes?" I asked, not believing.

"Does it sounds like a no to you." She retort, eyeing at me. Her irritated voice makes me chuckle more and I tugged her into an another hug.

Pushing me back, she informed "I've got fever, so stay away" holding the towel, she turned around and walked into another room; which I assume is her little closet.

I settled myself on the couch and waits for her come back. Drifting my gaze at her room I observed it carefully this time, it was pleasantly nice; cream coloured wall, full length glass windows, plants everywhere and that painting.

The swan one, it somehow seems familiar to me. Ignoring it for the moment, I glanced at the other things.

Few minutes passed and the sound of heel clicking comes making me aware of her presence. Lifting eyes I saw her walking towards me and my breath seem to stuck in my throat as I looked at her dress.

Knee length light blue dress, adorned with small white flowers. It hugs her body perfectly, and her hairs cascades down her body beautifully. Makeup, she kept it minimal as possible, just some lipgloss. No not a lipgloss her lips were pink natural.

I swallowed hard as she approaches me, keeping a smile on my face I straightened up. "You should rest now" I tell her, not wanting her health to get worsen.

"I will but I have an important meeting to attend." she replied, smiling at me. Scratching the backside of my neck I offered "meeting can wait, you need to rest." She nods at me and swiftly takes the envelope from the table.

"I know." She answered and tore the top of the envelope, ejecting some papers she stretches them towards me.

Taking those papers from her hands in confusion, I turned them and reads the first line of it.

Marriage contract.
